Following the success of the schools conference at Co-operatives 2009, the Co‑operative College and the Co-operative Group will be running an exciting event open to all co-operative schools at Co-operatives 2010 in Plymouth.
Co‑operatives 2010 is the UK’s biggest and most influential gathering of co‑operatives. This year, the event will be held in Plymouth, celebrating the 150th anniversary of co-operation in the city.
The Co-operatives 2010 schools event will help train and motivate staff members and students to expand the membership in their trusts, looking at what co-operative values mean in their schools. Training inputs will be supplemented by the opportunity to share experiences and good practice. The sessions will also be enriched by inputs from Co-operatives 2010 participants on membership issues.
In the second half of the event, staff will use the session to explore the development of co-operative pedagogy and curriculum, looking at co-operative teaching resources and CPD programmes from the Co-operative College, whilst the students will look at the role and development of ‘student voice’ within the co-operative schools network with campaign planning. Students will also ind out how they can get involved with Young Co-operatives.
